Daddy’s Ideal!

As Father’s Day is approaching, I join many of you in taking an extra moment to remember dad.  One of the fondest memories I have of my dad is that of him teaching me, how to dive beyond the breaking waves of the ocean. My eyes were burning from the seawater but he assured me that it wasn’t the end of the world because I had made a mistake which could be corrected; he gently reminded me that he was right there with me. Catching our breath from the hard swim, floating near each other in the deep blue wonder of God’s creation, was my “ideal” experience.

This past weekend I accomplished one of my goals and became a certified Open Water Scuba Diver!  Learning, studying, training, meeting new friends, and diving-in made for another “ideal” experience! I want to see more of God’s creation! I expect that I will be left in awe of His wonders, many times over, during my days ahead and I plan to share them with you!

Why scuba?

O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom, You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions— This great and wide sea, In which are innumerable teeming things, Living things both small and great. Psalm 104:24-25 (NKJV)

During my certification, my mask fogged on my third dive and I couldn’t see very well; technical stuff got in the way of the “ideal” experience. After I surfaced, I looked in the mirror and could see where I didn’t apply the defogger in my mask completely; my mistake.  “A mistake is not the end of the world”, is what I could hear my dad say.

I’m glad that our Daddy God took care of the technical stuff needed to allow us the opportunity of enjoying His creation!  I’m even more grateful that He took care of all that was needed to allow us the opportunity of having an abiding “ideal” relationship with Him and that it DID NOT depend on us being faultless.  God doesn’t expect us to be faultless, He expects us to be open to guidance, truth, and learning more of Him.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 (NKJV)

Celebrate God by observing His creation and acknowledging all He has done! Our Abba Father is watching and cheering us on, through it all!

“For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Life is for living; enjoy the journey!
